EVO Wingle is PTCL Internet USB Dongle, which is portable USB Internet so you can use it anywhere anytime by either plugging it into a computer, laptop or charger. PTCL's Evo Wingle is basically a Chinese-made dongle, and it was the first-ever 3G & 4G USB Dongle for Pakistan users, later on, many more telecommunication companies own similar devices and spread the Internet throughout the country with their service. PTCL is the oldest and probably the first telecommunication company which was owned by the Government of Pakistan, although later on its shares were sold to a UAE-based company in the 21st century. PTCL was the first in the race of wireless Internet Dongle, there were many advantages and disadvantages of this device.

You could connect to the Internet quickly without the need for any wire or cable, just plug it in and enjoy the Internet, the device works as a card reader as well if you put a microSD card in it. From the beginning of the dongle era, it was quite a famous Internet and everyone preferred it, as it was easy to carry in a pocket. You could use it with an android charger and get your mobile phone connected with it wirelessly, more important in countries like Pakistan where load shedding and the light cutoff are a daily basis problem, USB Internet is the best option you could run it with a 12volt electric battery.

There are many disadvantages of this USB Dongle, like the packages are limited to bandwidth, you have to pay extra if you surpass your assigned bandwidth, and one of the most annoying headaches is signal, as long as you are in an open sky area, you are good to get excellent signals and internet runs smooth but in most cases this Dongle cause problem in indoors, like inside a room or particular area surrounded by skyscrapers.

This USB dongle has many features, like allowing and blocking the internet for devices if mac filtered is used, bandwidth statistics, signal indicator and even Disabling wireless connectivity, as most users preferred it to use with their laptop computer, and they don't need wifi to transmit signal and neighbouring people get curious, then ask for a password, so it is ideal to turn off Wi-Fi and enjoy Dongle internet by yourself, so in this tutorial, you will be able to know how can you do it by simply following below steps, which are very simple.


Method:

  1. Open your Web Browser i.e Chrome, Firefox, MS Edge.
  2. Type 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 in the address bar.
  3. Click on Login and both username & password (By default admin for both)
  4. Once logged in, click on Settings.
  5. See left panel for WLAN Basic Settings under WLAN.
  6. Now click on Disable WLAN module & click on Apply.
That's it, you have done it. Your Evo Wingle USB Device no more transmits wifi signals, and if you want to re-enable it, then follow the same steps and just select Enable & Apply in step 6.
